Straightforward answers to the questions I hear most from buyers looking at Goodyear.
Estrella is Goodyear's big master-planned community south of the Gila River, at the foothills of the Sierra Estrella. It's built around lakes, trails and resident clubs, including North Lake, the Yacht Club of Estrella and the Starpointe Residents' Club, plus the Nicklaus-designed Golf Club of Estrella and CantaMia, a neighborhood where age requirements apply to residents. North of I-10, Palm Valley is one of Goodyear's original planned areas, with golf-course neighborhoods and mature landscaping close to shopping on Litchfield and McDowell roads, and PebbleCreek is a gated golf community where age requirements apply to residents. Canyon Trails, near I-10 and Cotton Lane, offers newer homes with easy freeway access. The choice usually comes down to how much you'll use Estrella's lake-and-trail amenities versus how close you want to be to I-10 and everyday shopping.
The Market at Estrella Falls, next to Goodyear Civic Square and City Hall on McDowell Road, is one of the city's biggest shopping hubs, with nearly 300,000 square feet anchored by TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, Burlington and Old Navy. Nearby, Palm Valley Pavilions West at I-10 and Litchfield Road adds Best Buy, Total Wine, Barnes & Noble, Ross and Ulta. For something different, the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall on McDowell has hundreds of dealers, and Arizona's first Buc-ee's opened in June 2026 just south of I-10 and Bullard Avenue. Goodyear Ballpark, spring training home of the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds, draws crowds every spring.
Estrella Mountain Regional Park anchors hiking and biking here, with miles of desert trails near where the Agua Fria and Gila rivers meet, plus a nature center, horseback riding and the Junior National Golf Club. Inside Estrella, residents have their own trail network and lakes for kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. Around town, Bullard Wash Park's lighted path and the 30-acre Goodyear Recreation Campus, with its aquatic center and sports courts, cover everyday exercise. Golf is everywhere too, from the Golf Club of Estrella's Nicklaus-designed course to Palm Valley Golf Club and Junior National.
Goodyear sits where I-10 meets Loop 303. Downtown Phoenix is about 20 miles east on I-10, usually around 30 minutes on average, and longer at weekday rush hour, so it's worth test-driving your commute before you buy. Goodyear has also become a job center in its own right, with Abrazo West Campus, City of Hope and a growing warehouse and logistics corridor along Loop 303. Valley Metro runs local bus routes, but most residents drive. Loop 303 is also a handy route north toward Surprise and Peoria.
