Midtown's historic districts are neighborhoods built mostly between the 1910s and 1950s. The City of Phoenix lists Willo as generally bounded by First and Seventh avenues, McDowell Road and the alley north of Edgemont Avenue, and the Willo neighborhood association says 22 separate subdivisions were platted there before World War II. It has Bungalow homes from the early 1920s and Tudor Revival, Spanish Colonial Revival and Pueblo Revival homes from the 1930s. Coronado is generally bounded by Seventh to 14th Streets, Virginia Avenue and the alley north of McDowell Road, with mostly bungalows plus English Tudor, Spanish Colonial Revival and early Ranch homes. Encanto-Palmcroft is generally bounded by Seventh to 15th avenues, McDowell Road and the northern boundary of Encanto Park and Golf Course. The City lists Willo as of July 1990, Coronado as of November 1986 and Encanto-Palmcroft as of March 1987. Buildings with HOAs, such as condos, have their own rules, so confirm dues and rules for each address. The outline on the map combines City of Phoenix neighborhood association boundaries, joined across a gap between Midtown and Coronado, and can differ from the historic district boundaries.

The map shows eleven places to eat or drink: eight in the outline and three on 7th Street in Uptown, well north of it. Durant's, at 2611 N Central Ave, is a steakhouse that opened in 1950 where guests enter through the kitchen. Forno 301, at 1616 N Central Ave, serves Neapolitan pizza and pasta. Thai Basil, at 3110 N Central Ave in Park Central, is a Thai restaurant. Xolo Coffee, at 2428 N 16th St in Coronado, is a coffee shop. Cowboy Seafood, at 3112 N Central Ave in Park Central, is a seafood and BBQ restaurant that opened in October 2026. Dark Hall Coffee, at 2243 N 12th St in Coronado, is a vegan cafe. Marisco Boys, at 2026 N 7th St, serves Mexican seafood, and Colados Coffee & Crepes, at 2315 N 7th St, is a coffee shop. For shopping, Wang's Vintage, at 3508 N 7th St, is a vintage clothing shop just east of the outline. Three more favorites are on 7th Street in Uptown, well north of the outline: McKenzie's Midtown Tavern at 4531 N 7th St, The Womack at 5749 N 7th St and Otro Cafe at 6035 N 7th St. More cafes and restaurants line Central Avenue north of Indian School Road, outside this outline. Hours and menus change, so check before you go.

Encanto Park, at 2605 N 15th Ave, is a 222-acre city park established in 1934. It has lagoons, a golf course designed by William P. Bell, and Enchanted Island, a children's amusement area reached by two bridges added in 1956. In 1984, 100 acres including the golf course and lagoons were listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Encanto-Palmcroft Historic District. Coronado Park, at 1717 N 12th St in the Coronado neighborhood, is a city park with a pool, courts and a playground, and it is on the map. The Willo neighborhood also holds an annual home tour and street fair, and the 37th was held February 15, 2026. Check dates and details with each organizer.

Valley Metro Rail runs along Central Avenue through Midtown, with stations at Thomas/Central Avenue, Encanto/Central Avenue and McDowell/Central Avenue, plus Roosevelt/Central Avenue just south. The Phoenix Art Museum is at Central Avenue and McDowell Road, the Phoenix Theatre Company and Burton Barr Central Library are also on Central Avenue, and the Heard Museum is at 2301 N Central Ave. Check Valley Metro for current routes, fares and schedules.
